Biography

Peter Muriungi is the chief executive officer of Digital Assets and Blockchain Solutions and a member of the Consumer & Community Banking Leadership team. Since 2013, Peter has held various leadership roles across Connected Commerce, Auto and Home Lending at Chase.

As the CEO of Connected Commerce, he led the team responsible for connecting more than 73 million digitally active customers with relevant brands they love through Chase’s travel, dining, shopping and offers, as well as lending programs and consumer and small business payments offerings. He previously was the CEO of Chase Auto, a leading provider of auto financing with a portfolio of more than $88 billion in assets and relationships with 75% of U.S. franchised automotive dealers. In Home Lending, as Head of Transformation and as Head of Servicing, he delivered record customer satisfaction and back-to-back J.D. Power #1 big bank rankings while managing a portfolio of 7.3 million mortgages representing a combined balance of $1 trillion.

Peter serves as the South Regional Chair of the Market Leadership team, executing strategic priorities across the eight southern states he oversees for the firm. Peter lends an influential voice to the firm’s important commitment to diversity, opportunity and inclusion. He is a member of JPMorganChase’s Black Executive Forum and the Executive Sponsor of The Fellowship Initiative in Dallas. He is also on the Board of Directors of Big Thought, a non-profit that helps bridge the opportunity gap for disadvantaged youth.

Prior, Peter was Senior Vice President of Special Portfolio Management and Servicing Strategies at GMAC Mortgage, where he managed their special servicing unit and single point of contact customer care center, among other responsibilities. Before joining GMAC Mortgage, Peter was Senior Vice President of Strategy and Analytics at EMC Mortgage Corporation.

Peter holds an MBA from East Texas Baptist University and a bachelor’s degree in international business from the United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya.
