'Tis the Season to Tackle the Holiday Birthday Blues, Says Chase Freedom Survey

New York, NY Nov 15, 2017 Small gestures can bring much-needed cheer for Americans feeling slighted by combined birthday/holiday celebrations.

Having a holiday birthday is surely not nice, said many Americans that have birthdays during the holiday season. In a national survey1 conducted by Chase Freedom, a third (32%) of those surveyed with holiday birthdays feel that they are celebrated less – by those whom you might find on the naughty list.

In fact, one-fifth of Americans admitted to forgetting, ignoring or deliberately downplaying someone’s birthday because it falls on or near a holiday, the survey found.

"Chase Freedom wants to chase away those holiday birthday blues," said BJ Mahoney, General Manager of Chase Freedom. "We encourage holiday birthdayers–and their loved ones–to use their Cash Back rewards to make this birthday one that won’t be forgotten."

  • Counting the days to Christmas: Bah humbug. 84% said that October through December is a tough time of the year to have a birthday, with 61% ranking Christmas as the worst holiday birthday.
  • Little things make a difference. 56% of respondents said that even a small gesture or an inexpensive gift helps to beat the holiday birthday blues.
  • Cash Back rewards can bring all a good night.75% said that Cash Back rewards is a great solution for buying holiday birthday presents for family, friends—and even for themselves.
